The last cheese market of the season ...
On September 1 the last cheese market of the season took place. For 21 weeks we have enjoyed welcoming tourists from home and abroad. The hustle and bustle and fun atmosphere makes visiting the Gouda city centre a small party each week. At the end of this morning the cheeses were loaded one final time, and the cheese farmers climbed onto the wagonettes for the last time for a while. All that remains is to thank the traders, speakers, cheese girls and boys and all the other volunteers who have contributed to making Gouda such a wonderful spectacle again this year.
Say cheese and you say Gouda!
You can of course visit the many cheese shops all year round, as well as the Goudse Waag (Gouda Weighing House) which opens its doors regularly. There are also still many local cheese farmers who will be happy to show you how Gouda cheese is made. For more information, please visit http://www.welkomingouda.nl/en.
